with Veterinary Toxicologist, Dr. Tina Wismer

Welcome back to Your Dog Wants You To Know This!

Have you ever wondered what you’d do if your dog swallowed something they weren’t supposed to?

Fear not!

Today my special guest is Dr. Tina Wismer. Tina is the senior director of ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, adjunct instructor at University of Illinois, and a consultant for Veterinary Information Network (VIN). She earned her undergraduate degree from University of Findlay and her DVM from Purdue University. Tina worked in both small animal and emergency practice before joining the ASPCA. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology and the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology.

In today’s episode Tina shares everything you need to know about what to do if your dog ingests something that they're not supposed to. She’s covering how the poison control center can help you figure out what steps to take, what information you need to tell them when you get on the phone, and she highlights what an amazing resource the Poison Control Center is.

We’re covering the top 10 toxicities that dog owners call the Poison Control Center for, as well as how much a dog needs to ingest for it to be a problem, and what the consequences are of a dog ingesting too much of one of them.

This is a really important discussion, so tune in to the full episode!
